Since you guys were such a great help with my cucumber/tomato/cheese dish, let me ask you for your opinion one more time.
How do you cook corn and potatoes on the grill?
As you can see, I just throw the whole potato on there, and cook it until a fork goes through it easily. I wrap the corn in foil with salt, pepper, and butter. When it comes off the grill, it is so tender and flavorful.
I have seen people husk it and then just throw it on the grill. I was wondering if any of you do that, and if so, does the corn get tender? How long do you cook it?

I do my corn this way:
Husk it, slather it with mayo, then liberally sprinkle with parmesan cheese, and add a SMALL dash of cayenne pepper. Wrap in foil and grill. MOST AWESOME.
Aside from the cayenne (I'm afraid of too spicy foods), this sounds delicious! I never would have thought of putting mayo on it...definitely something I will try!
Jenn- you can actually leave the husk right on it. First, peel back the husk but don't remove it. Pull out the corn silks then soak it in a bucket of water for 15min or so then set them on a dish towel while you prepare your butter ingredients.
I like to take butter softened at room temp and combine it with fresh parley, chives, red pepper flake, and garlic (you can mash cloves into a paste with the side of your knife).
Smear it onto the corn, then put the husks back over it and grill for 15-20 minutes. :)
PS- forgot to tell say- the leftover butter is yummy on those baked potatoes!
Have you ever tried coating the corn with mayo and then wrapping it up and cooking as you have done? I saw this done on TV once, tried it and it's really good, juicy and tender.
Jenn- you inspired me to blog my recipe. I made it for dinner tonight, Husband and kiddos all loved it!

Hope it's okay that I post a link to the recipe. :)
Mac ~ I mentioned the mayo to my husband, and he didn't go for it. I might try it anyway, and not tell him! lol!
Tara Beaulieu ~ I seriously can not wait to try out your recipe...that butter sounds delicious! I have heard of grilling it in the husk, but have never tried it. Let me ask you this...does soaking it in the water make the corn soggy? It didn't look like it in your pictures, but I just want to be sure. I absolutely hate soggy corn. Even when we're not grilling, I wrap them the same way and bake them in the oven.
Hi Jenn- no, not soggy at all. The time they're in the water is so short that all it does is get the husks good and wet. The corn stays firm and crisp when you bite into it. :)
Perfect!
